Wilmot Primary school is nestled in picturesque farmland, midway between Bass Strait and Cradle Mountain. The town has claim to the original Coles store and has magnificent views of Mt Roland and Lake Barrington.
Family engagement is a priority at our school, we have strong links with the school community and our school offers highly engaging Launching into Learning programs for children and families from Birth to 4. These weekly sessions are play based and can include playgroup, swimming, music and movement. Our Kindergarten children attend school three full days a week and are involved in early learning activities that focus on inquiry and discovery in the outdoor and indoor world. Our students in Prep to Grade 6 are taught the Australian Curriculum with daily dedicated learning time in literacy and numeracy.
Many of the remaining learning areas from the Australian Curriculum are taught using a child supported Inquiry learning model which enable children to be reflective and engaged learners. Wilmot Primary School’s Farm Kitchen makes available our 25 acres of land for the learning of our students. All children are involved in the orchard, vegetable garden, chicken shed and small animal husbandry. Our parents and local farming community are actively involved in helping children learn through their passion for our local rural environment.
Our Musical Arts program is taught by a specialist teacher with a focus on instrumental and vocal instruction for all students Kinder to Grade 6.
Our Health and Wellbeing program utilises our wonderful outside environment for healthy daily physical activities and our vegetable garden provides ingredients for healthy cooking sessions.
Wilmot Primary School caters for the academic and social needs of all of it's students by providing a variety of excursions and camps to places near and far. We utilise iPAD technology and online learning to enhance the development of all students across the grades.
